(You can narrow down the search by browsing to a certain drive or folder where you think it might be first. To do so, press Windows E to open an Explorer window, then enter datemodified:today in the search bar. First, take another screenshot, then perform a search for recently modified files in File Explorer. If you’re still having trouble locating where your screenshots are being saved, there’s a technique that might help. RELATED: The Best Free Screenshot Apps for Windows If You Still Can’t Find Your Screenshots Until then, a few good places to look include your Documents folder or your Pictures folder, both of which can be found under “This PC” in File Explorer. If you’re taking screenshots in Windows 10 or 11 using a third-party tool created by someone other than Microsoft, then you’ll need to consult that tool’s settings to see where it saves screenshots. RELATED: 6 Great Features in Windows 10's New Game Bar If You Use a Third-Party Screenshot Tool If you use the “Capture” tool in the Xbox Game Bar (which opens when you press Windows G), then Windows will save your screenshot to C:\Users\\Videos\Captures, where “” is the name of the user account you used to capture the shot. If not, you could also check your Documents or Pictures folders under “ This PC” in File Explorer. To see where that is, take another screenshot, save it, and see where it wants to save the new file. you need to explicitly allow it permissions on Mac OS to capture your screen, and it needs to be running with the capture keys configured (I set mine to Command Shift 9, but I don't recall the default) in order to have it capture. While that doesn’t help if you don’t know where you saved your last screenshot, they will remember the last place you saved a file. Surprised to read all the reviews from people saying they couldn't figure out how to open it. Pretty strange.ĭefinitely recommend this for anyone needing a quick snipping tool with markup support though. To be clear, the link loads just fine, it's just that the only thing in the loaded image is the lightshot logo. The actual capture doesn't seem to be there. The only issue I'm seeing currently is that no matter what I've selected to be captured, uploading the screenshot to the cloud and copying the link results in just an image of the lightshot logo. After installing it on my M1 mac, I found that the features are pretty much all there and despite feeling a little clunky compared to the windows version, it got the job done. I've been using lightshot on windows for a couple years now and have loved it. I hope they consider improving that someday. Lightshot is an okay program that is 80% of the way there but that last 20% of missing user experience consideration is really noticeable. That's a shame because with some UX changes they could do it all in the one tool. I tried to use these features for a while but now I have mostly given up and use it for the one task of selecting an area of the screen to save as an image and then open that saved image in a different image editor to do the markup. Adding text is infuriating because there is no editor box to allow changing font size/type - though I've heard there are some hidden hotkeys like scrollwheel for some of this but I haven't learned the secret language to make these hidden Lightshot features closer to useable. The color selector being colored pencils is strange and not very useful - I wish it had a simpler color selector or allowed hex codes/color names to ensure I was using the same colors consistently between screenshots. Selecting different tools barely shows a difference in the button highlighting or in the cursor so it's hard to tell what tool you're about to use. I often times find myself trying to draw a box to highlight something and instead it moves the frame of what's selected instead so the whole screenshot image changes. On the surface it does a similar job but the usability is much worse. Interface for this app is simple and easy to use, making it a great app for users of all computer skills. It’s a great alternative or supplement to other screen apps that require or offer less features. Lightshot really makes me miss Greenshot. App Lightshot download for Windows is a screen application that allows users to take screenshots, annotate them, upload them online.
